Winners of Belarus in Focus 2013

This year, the competition received 67 articles by 55 authors from 14 countries. After careful consideration, the jury has awarded prizes to (in alphabetical order): 



Jury members wish to give special mentions to: 


  • Brigitte Geiselhart (Germany). For the media project ‘Polotsk writes for Friedrichshafen’ (see series of articles in Beginner section published in Sudkurier)
  • Izabela Meyza (Poland), The hidden life of a dead roe deer, Kontynenty, Dec 1, 2013


Winners in the professional category will receive prizes of 500 EUR each, and winners in the beginners category will receive prizes of 300 EUR each.  

Winners and runners-up will be invited to a two-day workshop in Warsaw at the end of March 2014. Other competition participants may also be invited depending on the number of remaining places.  

Remarks by the jury members on the winning articles will be published here before the award-giving ceremony in late March. 

In our online readers’ competition, the following articles received the most ’likes’:

The authors will receive a signed copy of David Marples’ latest book - Our Glorious PastLukashenka’s Belarus and the Great Patriotic War’, plus a ’Belarus in Focus’ cloth bag.
